The 64-year old PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) is Indonesia's state-owned power company. With around 38 million customers across the country, it has always been in the lookout for new technologies that will help it maximize its productivity and achieve cost efficiency. As one fourth of its 40,000 workers using Microsoft products, it has also been a major Microsoft customer in Indonesia. When Microsoft Indonesia Open License Program offered it an opportunity to test drive Windows Vista, PLN's IT team, under the leadership of Mawardi Mansoer, Assistant Deputy Director, IT Infrastructure Strategy, saw it as an excellent opportunity to determine whether the new features in Vista would benefit its sprawling operations. Their experience convinced them that the new operating system would boost their efficiency and productivity.
