Overview:

Emsdetten wanted to consolidate more than 40 disparate applications that comprise the organization's patchwork IT system, resulting from the diverse range of individual services provided and eliminates delays and errors of paper-based processes, specifically with interactions between different departments when exchanging information on paper forms. The challenge was to ensure adequate protection against system and physical hardware failure for the three terabytes of stored data and increase the city's attractiveness and quality of life by enabling transparency in the council's administrative process. Emsdetten worked with Oracle Consulting to consolidate multiple, legacy databases onto Oracle Database 11g with Real Application Clusters, guaranteeing high availability and reducing administration effort in general by 50%.
