Overview:

Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) is an option to the Enterprise Edition Oracle Database. Oracle RAC supports the deployment of a single database across a cluster of servers providing enhanced fault tolerance, performance, and scalability. Oracle RAC solutions are growing in importance for a wide range of customer implementations across all industries from transaction processing to data warehousing applications. Depending upon the configuration, deployment of the Oracle RAC 11g R1on Red Hat or SUSE Linux can vary in complexity and requires significant expertise in all of the technologies involved. This paper provides an example of performing this type of implementation with creation of a simple configuration with a two-node cluster.
