Overview:
Author and retired law enforcement officer, Dan Marcou was turned down by every publisher he approached when he submitted his first novel "The Calling: The Making of a Veteran Cop", a realistic fictional portrayal about the first five years of a young police officers career. Rather than wait for a publishing deal and not willing to take no for an answer, he decided to publish the novel on his own. In the fall of 2007, Lt. Marcou's book was reviewed by PoliceOne Columnist and law enforcement expert, Charles Remsberg. Mr. Remsberg discovered that two academies in Wisconsin were the first in the nation requiring all recruits to read "The Calling: The Making of a Veteran Cop".
