Overview:

High availability and support for rolling upgrades are critical requirements for this application. Although Ready-to-Run Software's client utilizes ASP.NET and ASP.NET session objects in their application, they do not use SQLServer for their line of business database, and the cost of licensing a clustered SQLServer for storing only session objects was prohibitive. By using ScaleOut StateServer to store session state data in memory directly on the Web farm, they achieve higher performance than if using disk-based storage, and avoid the complexity and cost of clustering a relational database. Additionally, ScaleOut Software's StoreSafe technology intelligently replicates data across the Web servers in the farm making it always available to the application, even when servers are taken offline for administrative tasks or are down because of machine failures.
