Overview:

This white paper highlights methods of upgrading existing HP StorageWorks MSA2012fc and MSA2212fc arrays to the new HP Storage Works MSA2312fc G2 array. Arrays can be upgraded without any data loss. This paper lists the methods to update an existing 12 drive MSA2000fc to the updated controllers of the MSA2312fc G2. The original MSA2000fc controller is in a chassis with twelve Large Form Factor (LFF) drive bays. When people upgrade the controllers to the MSA2300fc G2, they acquire the additional functionality of the new controllers with the exception that they cannot support Small Form Factor (SFF) drives or the MSA70 SFF JBOD.
