A growing number of IT organizations are establishing energy efficient, "Green" data centers to alleviate the financial and environmental impacts of skyrocketing power consumption and to proactively address the likelihood of more government energy regulation. Existing technologies and strategies could reduce typical server energy use by 25 percent, and even greater energy savings are possible with advanced technologies. Successfully implementing a green data center requires a thorough understanding of the cost-benefit relationship, clear direction from management, and reassurance that performance and reliability will continue to meet business demands.
