Overview:
This paper considers the ranging process of IEEE 802.16 system in relay system. An interference problem between MS-BS ranging (i.e. ranging between mobile station and base station) and MS-RS ranging (i.e. ranging between mobile station and relay station), which is caused by the introduction of relay systems, is addressed. A solution of the interference problem is provided by proposing a new transmit power control algorithm. Computer simulation shows the performance of the ranging process in relay system, and validates the efficiency of the proposed transmission power control algorithm.
