Overview:

China Unionpay (CUP) wanted to build a bankcard information switch network to provide e-payment tools and enable better customer service and standardize 18 subcenters that used different IT architectures, applications, and technical standards on a common platform. The challenge was to remove bottlenecks caused by different infrastructures and implement standard management techniques and support effective system monitoring. China Unionpay (CUP) replaced a large mainframe application with an open system developed using Oracle WebLogic Suite and Oracle Tuxedo as well as processed approximately 13,556 transactions per second in a trial run, setting a new world record.
