Overview:
Asciano was formed in 2007 following a merger between rail freight services provider Pacific National and ports and stevedoring operator Patrick. With the merger came the need to standardize on one financial management system that could be utilized by its 8,000 staff Australiawide. To ensure application availability and scalability, the company turned to Oracle's Grid technology. Asciano has deployed four Oracle Real Application Clusters nodes running on Oracle Database 10g to maintain platform stability and high availability.
