Overview:

City of Evanston wanted to improve application performance and database management and decrease frequency and duration of outages. The challenge was to implement a mechanism to alert IT team if a Web application is down - to ensure constituents and employees have 24/7 access to data, streamline patch management and manage database backup and recovery. City of Evanston implemented Oracle Enterprise Manager to allow IT team to more closely monitor system performance and ensure 24/7 uptime for permitting, licensing, inspections, utility payment, JDEdwards EnterpriseOne and GIS applications, among others and used Oracle Enterprise Manager to enable one database administrator to independently manage 25 databases, 26 servers, and 24 Web applications, while still allowing time for other mission-critical activities.
