Overview:

If one has important and sensitive data on one's smartphone that is to do with work or one holds clients details on it, then under the data protection act one is required to adequately protect this information. Therefore, get the IT department to encrypt one's smartphone or any mobile device that is owned by the company, they can do this remotely - then one has nothing to worry about because no-one apart from one's self will ever be able to read it.
