Overview:

Despite increased maturity of test processes, the discipline of testing still suffers from traditional "Project squeeze" in many engagements. Additionally, as new project development methodologies are created and speed to market increases, testing needs to react accordingly. Traditional "Heavy" processes, such as risk based or requirements based testing, have an important role to play by promoting uniformity and thoroughness into testing. These should continue to form the spine of a mature test strategy. However in certain situations there is the risk that even the well crafted test plan is not able to flex sufficiently to incorporate changed deadlines, scope or customer requirements. There is an increasing need to supplement existing test processes with new, pragmatic, flexible and quick techniques.
