Overview:

This paper describes a process manager: to help manage IT resources more effectively by providing conflict identification when providing resource reservations with QoS guarantees to end users; to support change management for IT staff that perform impact analysis of proposed changes and schedule the actual changes in the context of potential conflicts with a resource reservation system. The paper has developed a prototype system that represents the IT resources in both a dependency graph and a connectivity graph. The prototype process manager allows the expression of policy statements about the resources, their reservations, and change management processes. It evaluates resource reservations and change management actions against the policies and points out possible conflicts with existing reservations and/or change actions.
