MKI Technologies Co. Ltd. (MKI Technology) maintains the operations of client computer networks, a service which requires engineers to be onsite. However, faced with strict security practices, its engineers were only allowed limited use of laptops in the field. This reduced communication prevented checking of support details or researching of products remotely. To enhance communications, MKI Technologies rolled out Windows Mobile 6-enabled Willcom Advanced W-ZERO3 [es] smart phones and Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 for a secure, mobile, and unified communications environment. Now, remote support engineers can respond quickly to customer queries through a mobile e-mail system, check the latest customer maintenance information, and seek advice from engineers while on the move.
