Overview:

Oil company Maxol wanted to future proof an existing Microsoft environment. They needed to build an architecture that would reduce power consumption and lower carbon emissions. It was important to consolidate the existing servers, improve business continuity, and support the rollout of new software in the coming year. Working with Dell Infrastructure Consulting Services, Maxol implemented a three-node cluster of Dell PowerEdge 2950 servers running Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 technology. The virtualized environment, which is also connected to a Dell/EMC CX300 Storage Area Network SAN), has replaced 12 physical servers.
