Overview:

Simon Fraser University wanted to standardize its Microsoft Windows-based desktop and laptop computers onto a single brand, to reduce IT purchasing and maintenance overhead and manage its computer network more efficiently. In particular, the university wanted a better price/performance ratio, greater durability, better support and the flexibility to support a variety of configurations. It also needed a more sustainable way to dispose of outdated hardware. Through a public tender process, the university chose Dell OptiPlex desktop and Dell Latitude notebook computers from Dell for its faculty, staff and student computing labs. The computers are covered by Dell's 3-year Gold Enterprise Support including 4-Hour Response Service and Next Business Day On-Site Service, available even when users are traveling on business.
