Overview:

The basic steps in setting up the ESRI Map Component for geospatial display of data on a SAS BI platform are well documented. As one followed these steps at the Bureau of the Census to get from ESRI map development on Windows to map-displayed OLAP Cube data on the Unix-based BI Platform, the paper encountered several unexpected roadblocks. This paper reviews how the project evolved, highlighting in detail those experiences and solutions at critical points in the process.
