Overview:

For most of today's organizations, the scope of network monitoring is rapidly expanding beyond the data center. From point-of-sale systems to IP-enabled bar code scanners, music systems and wireless access point running across hundreds or thousands of locations, traditional Network Monitoring System (NMS) tools designed for static data centers are simply no longer adequate. Organizations running mission-critical business applications require up-to-the-minute performance data provided by a robust monitoring system that can adapt to a rapidly and constantly changing network. This paper examines the myths that many companies fall prey to when considering a new or upgraded network monitoring system.
