Overview:

As a diagnostic system for Continuous Structural Health Monitoring and Intelligent Infrastructure (CSHM&II), the Diagnostic Network Patch (DNP) system has been developed to detect and monitor the flaws and faults of the structure of composites and metallic materials. As a device of interrogating guided acoustic waves in a structure, each of patches includes a sensor embodiment of flat optical cable loops and multilayered piezo ceramic disk as sensor/actuator. In the algorithms of DNP system, an interrogation module controls the network configuration of actuators and sensors and commits retrieving a data set of sensor signals. This module continues to compute a Structural Condition Index (SCI) to afford tomography images. Other expert classification and prognosis modules use the image set to classify structural condition, and forecast the current damage.
