Overview:
The Kurashiki Board of Education (BoE) administers the schools and other learning centres in the city. The BoE wanted to use the school intranet to create the best possible learning environment for students. A Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) network infrastructure already served the city's educational facilities, but schools needed an equipment upgrade before they could use applications requiring Gigabit speeds. The AT-9812T, a Layer 3 Gigabit Ethernet switch, was installed in all 84 schools in Kurashiki to create a GbE environment in the backbone of the LAN. In addition, AT-8224SL Layer 2 Fast Ethernet switches, equipped with expandable GbE modules, have been installed on each floor of the schools to connect workstations to the LAN.
