Overview:

In this paper, a Genetic Algorithm-Fuzzy Logic Controller (GA-FLC) for dynamic channel-borrowing scheme is presented to maximize the number of served calls in distributed wireless cellular networks. The need for such a scheme has led to an intensive research in mobile computing to provide mobile users accesses to the Internet. In a cellular network, the call-arrival rate, the call duration, and the communication overhead between the base station and the mobile switch center are vague and uncertain. Channel allocation in wireless communication networks is an important combinatorial optimization problem that must be solved for application problems. Since it is NP-hard, many different heuristics are proposed for its solution.
