Overview:

Multistage switching networks are used in high speed communication networks and as building blocks of modern communication systems. Paper examines switch fabric architectures available as single chip solutions available on the market. Highlighted solutions were picked out according to their buffer architecture, period of development and application domain. Multistage switching networks have been widely used as efficient interconnection structures for computer systems and for switching nodes in high speed communication networks.
