Overview:

Voyages-sncf.com is the online travel agency for the Societe Nationale des Chemins de fer Francais (SNCF), a public enterprise that operates rail services for passengers and freight throughout France. With more than 9 million Web site visitors a month, Voyages-sncf.com needed to ensure that its ticketing Web site is available to customers 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The company wanted a new operating system that would interoperate with upgraded hardware. Additionally, IT staff at Voyages-sncf.com wanted to improve server management, increase productivity, enhance security, and provide an optimized IT foundation for the future. The agency deployed Windows Server 2008 with its Read-Only Domain Controller feature and upgraded to 64-bit HP servers with Intel Xeon quad-core processors.
