Overview:

The Italian Ministry of Education, Universities, and Research (MIUR) wanted to improve the organisational and technical architecture of the national school system. It appointed a consortium, led by Microsoft Gold Certified Partner EDS, to undertake one of the largest public sector contracts in recent history. EDS deployed a software framework using the Microsoft server product portfolio to replace extensive computer hardware and automate workflow. As a result, several administrative procedures have been streamlined, parental engagement has been improved, and student access to services has been increased. MIUR estimates that efficiency has doubled, while costs have halved. What's more, solutions developed across the Italian public sector can be shared between ministries and departments.
