Overview:
With the growing emphasis on improved utilization and server consolidation in the data center, virtualizations, and specifically VMware, are becoming widely used. Usually the concept of virtualization is usually associated with high-end servers, such as the IBM's family of X3 servers (x3850, x3950 and their predecessors the x366 and x460) that are able to support and consolidate multiple heterogeneous software environments. Most hardware events for the IBM X3 servers are available "Out of band" via the RSA2 card installed in most IBM X3 servers. The missing link is the ServerRAID events. These are not available from the BMC or RSA2, they are only available from the ServeRAID card itself.
