Overview:

System z hosts use Autoloaders in two different modes: Auto Mode or System Mode. In both modes, unprocessed cartridges are loaded into the drive sequentially. However, in Auto Mode unprocessed cartridges are automatically loaded into the drive when the previous cartridge is ejected, whereas in System Mode unprocessed cartridges are loaded into the drive under the attaching host system's command. Consequently, in System Mode, when a cartridge is ejected, the host can either request to load the next unprocessed cartridge in the autoloader or request a specific cartridge to be mounted by an operator. The TS1120 Tape Controller provides support to use the TS3400 Tape Library in System Mode and Auto Mode for System z attachment.
