Overview:

The objective of this paper is to provide a detailed step by step approach on how to perform a cross platform migration of the Oracle Database 10gR2 and the 11i E-Business Suite Applications to AIX 5L. Database migration is accomplished by using the transportable table space feature and RMAN conversion of data files on the AIX host. This approach can reduce the downtime required for migration. Prior to this feature's availability, the Oracle import/export (imp/exp) or Data Pump tools were used for migration, which can be challenging at times, depending on the size of the database and the availability of the migration window.
