Overview:

To help organizations with their Windows Vista migrations, Microsoft has developed a suite of best practices and supporting tools. While these tools do a good job of supporting discrete phases of the best practices, many customers prefer a single system that works with Microsoft tools to unify the entire process. IBM refers to these systems as unified image management systems. This term is used because these systems support not only Microsoft best practices for Windows Vista deployment but also the creation, management and deployment of new desktop disk images. Unified image management can offer many benefits.
