Overview:

Storage Resource Broker (SRB) enables an enterprise-wide, unified view of all data, regardless of location, data type, or storage device: a true Global Namespace. Integration with the Sun StorageTek 5800 system provides SRB the ability to store objects in a new category of storage system optimized to store large amounts of digital content, such as x-ray scans, photographs, images, research data sets, digitized books (e.g. from the Google books project). Archiving becomes a lower cost yet easily accessed and reliable fixed content repository.
