Overview:

Bargainland, an online liquidator and one of eBay's largest sellers, had to quickly find a different sales channel. The company acquired the source code for a several-year-old auction site and, in less than a month, used the Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 development system to upgrade the code and launch its own auction site. Bargainland now is rapidly rewriting its site, called Bidtopia.com, to run on the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5, new features of which are contributing to high developer productivity and an improved user experience. More importantly, the company is rapidly reaching a point at which Bargainland will be able to scale out the site at will, as required to support strong demand from dozens of other large eBay sellers that also want to sell on Bidtopia.com.
