Overview:

The Electricity Supply Board (ESB) is the national electricity supplier for Ireland. Like all major utility companies, the biggest challenge facing ESB is operating successfully in today's increasingly open marketplace. As part of the process of opening the domestic electricity market to competition in line with EU requirements, ESB was required to split its networks and supply businesses. A separate company, ESB Independent Energy, now competes for the high value customers with all the other independent suppliers. ESB has a strategy of trying to reduce its total cost of ownership on IT systems, and SAP will continue to make a significant contribution to achieving this goal. To date, as part of the Market Opening Project ESB has implemented ISU, CRM and Business Warehouse.
