In early 1999, RED BULL SAUBER PETRONAS decided to improve the efficiency of day-to-day operations by implementing a standard product life-cycle management solution. At the time, there were few software systems that fulfilled the engineering outfit's specific requirements. Products from the CAD world, for example, were not mature enough in terms of the business-related functionality Sauber sought.
