Overview:

The pressure is on IT professionals to lower network risk by implementing Network Access Control (NAC). However, NAC has multiple dimensions, and the best known solutions are often prohibitively complex, expensive, and potentially disruptive to business operations. Consequently, the path to achieving network access control is unclear.

A sure starting point is secure remote access, since your greatest vulnerability lies with remote users and guests accessing network resources from unmanaged devices. The best approach is a three-step process to:

  • Detect and assess the trust level of remote end points
  • Protect applications with a granular access control policy that's based on the user's identity and role as well as on the trust level established for the user's device
  • Connect remote users to the network resources they need
By consistently following this approach you will clear the first hurdle to NAC.

To learn more, listen to this TechRepublic Webcast, now available on demand and featuring industry analyst Michael Suby, Research Program Director, Stratecast (a Division of Frost & Sullivan), and Chris Witeck, Director of Product Management for SonicWALL Aventail SSL VPN solutions.

You'll learn how to take a holistic view of NAC and where to start when building your NAC strategy.
