Overview:

Embedded system design, like any design task, involves making a series of tradeoffs. Software developers seem always to be the victim of many of these tradeoffs, as one is forced to wade through a myriad of arcane kernels, drivers, development tools, techniques, and documentation instead of doing what one enjoys most: developing the domain-specific application one has been asked to deliver. As is the case with any platform, the .NET Micro Framework aims to raise the level of abstraction at which software developers work by isolating them from the mundane and tedious details of the underlying hardware through well-crafted abstractions. This approach leads to more reliable, easier to debug and profile code, faster to market products, and a more enjoyable development experience.
