Overview:
Built on the Microsoft Windows DNA platform (Microsoft's Web solution platform), Farms.com was among the first sites to introduce real-time auctions of agricultural products and commodities. Microsoft's comprehensive development platform provided the company with the tools to bring the site online in little more than four months and with only two developers. The platform provides Farms.com with the robustness it needs to handle 500 to 1,000 hits per minute during auctions. Developed on Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0, Farms.com is now upgrading to Windows 2000 Advanced Server to enhance the site's reliability, performance, and availability.
