Overview:

When you import the Exchange Management Pack into Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 (MOM), groups of rules, performance counters, interfaces, reports, and other features are added to MOM, thereby allowing you to monitor and manage elements of the Exchange server and the services and resources it provides. MOM with the Exchange Management Pack is particularly useful to large organizations. With it, you can be proactive by monitoring the performance, availability, and security features of Exchange. In this sample chapter from How to Cheat at Managing Microsoft Operations Manager 2005, learn how to streamline the management of Exchange 2000 and Exchange 2003. Investigate the tools that the Exchange Management Pack provides for monitoring the health, operation, and usage of servers, databases, and mailboxes. Finally, explore the compatibility and communications issues regarding Exchange 5.5 and the Exchange 5.5 Management Pack that was made available for MOM 2000 but is now no longer supported.
