Overview:
Founded in 1880, RheinLand Versicherung is a well-known German insurer. The company wanted to migrate legacy UNIX-based applications to a new environment, reducing complexity and cost; retain cost leadership in German insurance market. As a solution the company implemented an IBM eServer zSeries Model 990 running z/VM and Linux for zSeries, linked to existing z800 running legacy mainframe applications, and to an IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Storage Server with 8TB capacity.
