Overview:

Maharashtra is one of the largest states in India. The challenges faced were providing e-governance services to over a million people across 250,000 locations and provide a solution that can scale rapidly. The Government of Maharashtra (GoM) also wanted to minimize need for support in remote locations and keep costs to a bare minimum. As a solution the Government of Maharashtra evaluated and chose Red Hat. The IT team of GoM has developed a database, groupware and office application suite based on the Linux, Apache, DB2, PHP architecture for its basic computing needs. This suite is being rolled out across 380 locations in Maharashtra.
