Overview:

Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) is an approach to user provisioning and access control that improves security and compliance while reducing IT administrative costs. RBAC is supported by Novell technologies such as Novell eDirectory and Novell Identity Manager in conjunction with several third-party role-management and role discovery software products. The business value of RBAC results from integrating security and access policies with an organizational view of access requirements. This integration is enabled by technology, but it is also a business initiative addressing policies, processes and organizational responsibilities. Novell Consulting has developed industry-leading expertise in not only the implementation of RBAC-related technology, but also the business change required to realize the promise of RBAC.
