Overview:

Cendant Travel Distribution Services (TDS), a subsidiary of Cendant Corporation, is one of the world's largest and most geographically diverse collections of travel brands and distribution businesses. In the autumn of 2001, Cendant acquired Galileo, the largest company of its emerging travel division TDS. The responses given in the case study focuses on the successful development of a culture of reuse within Cendant TDS. The establishment of a reuse culture began with the centralization of key resources, followed by hardware standardization which delivered cost avoidance benefits of over $100 million and culminated in the development of the industry's first Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) framework at TDS.
