Overview:
OTRA Information Services, which manages the information communication technology infrastructure at Dutch technology wholesaler Technische Unie, wanted to consolidate its servers on Microsoft Windows Server 2003. But a small number of Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0 applications were not compatible with the new operating system. Thanks to Microsoft Virtual Server 2005, OTRA has phased out its servers running Windows NT Server, and runs its business applications in a virtual Windows NT Server-based environment on one machine running Windows Server 2003. As a result, OTRA has reduced hardware and maintenance costs, while retaining its existing investment in business-critical applications.
