Overview:

Based in Wels, Austria, 3e-group is an association of specialised dealers in do-it-yourself and hardware goods. It acts for 350 independent businesses, 200 of which are in Austria and the rest in Eastern Europe. Austria's 3-e group had performance and cost issues with its old Alpha servers. It needed to find a new platform for vital SAP business applications. Seeking a new alternative, 3e-group narrowed the contenders down to two - HP Integrity servers running HP-UX or the IBM Power5 system. The company had good prior experience with HP machines so they decided to stay with HP. The company installed two HP Integrity servers - one a production system and the other for development and testing.
