Overview:
The Forestry Commission is responsible for managing the United Kingdom's 800,000 hectares of forests and woodlands and increasing their value to society and the environment. The Forestry Commission faced challenge in converting documents from their native format to HTML for publishing on the intranet which was an onerous and time-consuming task. The organization also wanted to integrate content management, publishing and search tools; and standardize intranet style and layout. This was overcome by implementing the portal functionality of Oracle Application Server and Oracle interMedia to speed up the process of publishing reduced publishing time by 98%. The organization also ensured that newly added documents are searchable within two hours and cut average search time two to 10 seconds.
