Overview:

For universities, as in most other large organizations, enterprise portals are quickly becoming necessary tools to expose data and applications to different stakeholder segments. And there are indications that portals may no longer be simply an option. In its third semester of production, Temple's implementation of Oracle Portal branded as TU portal is experiencing significantly increased usage, and it is clear that technology savvy incoming students are depending more on and demanding more from the portal. With the increasing pressure to deploy enterprise portals, there is also a proportionate increase in the risk of failure; the temptation is to rush to implement a portal without first establishing the fundamentals.
