Overview:

Washington State University (WSU) was having difficulty providing its students and faculty with the developer software necessary for a high-quality education. In many of its courses, WSU used technologies from Microsoft and other software companies. But those tools were costly, and students were limited to using them only in university labs. As a result, WSU could not provide the range and detail of instruction that it wanted. To address these issues, several WSU departments joined the MSDN Academic Alliance. Through this inexpensive program, WSU gained easy access to a variety of Microsoft tools, applications, and documentation. As a result, students and faculty can now download software from the Web and students can use the software on their personal computers.
