Overview:

With thousands of customers calling daily, IKON Office Solutions' call centre staff should have been focused on customer service operations. But with the company's 600 field engineers calling in regularly to pick up new jobs and pass on data, customers often had to wait for a response. IKON engaged Microsoft partner and mobile solutions provider Dexterra to develop a solution to enable data updates from the field. The result is IKON Service, an application running on Microsoft Windows Mobile - based Pocket PC Phone Edition devices. These were rolled out to engineers, who now receive job updates wirelessly. They can input job data onscreen, which updates back-end systems in real time.
