Overview:

The National Probation Service (NPS) is split into 42 regional areas across the UK each of which has an autonomous management board. The NPS, like many other Government departments, public bodies and private sector organisations, outsources its IT provision to a third party. The NPD found that in some cases in the past the outsourcer had provided solutions that while technically adequate didn't necessarily fully encompass or address some of the detailed security requirements of the service. Siemens Insight Consulting worked in partnership with the NPD to provide cover for the extra resources the Policy and Strategy team needed, as this became part of the NOMS (National Offender Management Service) the team continued working in those roles.
