Overview:

When Kentucky technical schools began requiring Microsoft Office Specialist certification of their technology students, faculty, and staff, June Madison, a business teacher at Larry A. Ryle High School in Union, Kentucky, wanted to learn more about the program. She and several other teachers in the Career and Technical Education Department took Office Specialist exams and immediately realized the relevance and advantage certification presented their high school students. In the first year of offering Office Specialist exams, 49 certifications were issued to Ryle High School students in the advanced course. In the second year, the number of certifications rose to 137 out of 146 attempted exams - a remarkable pass rate of nearly 94 percent.
