Overview:

Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) technology has been evolving for over a decade. However, the recent push by Wal-Mart and the United States Defense Department to force suppliers to adopt RFID for supply shipments has brought the technology to the forefront of supply chain and asset management discussions. A ground swell is taking place to implement real-time tracking of cases and pallets for a variety of products, promising huge benefits in supply chain logistics. However, there are other industries and business processes where this technology can have a major impact. This paper outlines where RFID technology applies to asset and service management, and how MRO Software has enabled Maximo Enterprise Suite to support RFID.
